Atlanta Braves v San Diego Padres

This summer it’s all about the West Coast for Shyan Selah and the BNW Global team and the focus is on sunny SoCal. This past week was kicked off by an inspiring and stirring National Anthem for the Padres in San Diego, home to the largest United States naval base on the West Coast.

Standing at home base and facing the color guard Shyan sang his first national anthem for major league baseball calling it an

emotional experience. “Looking ahead of me at the men and women in uniform and knowing how much they’ve sacrificed, I got a little choked up singing. Being here and staying right next to the base, this anthem performance hit home a little bit more than usual.”

We want to send a big shout out to Padres Entertainment Coordinator, Ashley Gladden who invited Shyan to sing for the June 11th game against Braves, and also to the entire Padres staff from the security to the ticket takers to the sound technicians for such a warm welcome.

The next day was a susprise visit to the Starbucks store on El Cajon and 67th street, next to San Diego State University where Shyan will be visiting this fall during the official Starbucks tour. Singing his trademark soul solo set Shyan was a pleasant surprise to customers coming in for their afternoon coffee.

During these sets, we always love to get feedback from the Starbucks customers who make up the local community wherever we visit. This time they wrote down their comments and thoughts while picking up their coffee calling Shyan’s set “Awesome and Brave!” stating they “Love it and much respect,” and letting Shyan know they think he’s got a “Great Voice” and they can’t wait to see him perform again. Luckily they won’t have to wait long. Shyan Selah will be back at the El Cajon & 67th Store November 15th as part of the official Shyan Selah Live at Starbucks Tour this fall. His voice is beautiful and very powerful. I love them. Shyan Selah & The Republic of Sound are a pleasure to watch.

After San Diego we returned to BNW’s second home, Hollywood, CA, for Shyan Selah & The Republic of Sound’s third performance this year at the world famous Whisky A Go Go on Sunset Blvd. Here Shyan moves from soulful R&B to an enigmatic mix of rock, soul, hip hop, funk and blues. Watching the band play this stage you can feel the energy of the great acts who were discovered here including The Doors, Janis Joplin, BB King, The Who, Cream and Led Zeppelin. The excitement of the night wasn’t just about who was going to take the stage; it was also about who was in the audience including high profile execs from 19 Entertainment (American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance), the President of Blesich Sports and Entertainment Talent Agency and the Vice President of Carl’s Jr. As featured headliners Shyan Selah & The Republic of Sound have been named as a venue favorite with owner Tisa Mylar calling them one of the best acts to take the Whisky stage in the last 20 years.

“His voice is beautiful and very powerful. I love them. Shyan Selah & The Republic of Sound are a pleasure to watch.”

So much a pleasure for the audience this past Saturday that after the band was done performing a set that started off with their signature opener, “Where’s the Love,” included the upcoming new single, “Pink Butterfly,” and ended with the moving “Sweet Energy,” dedicated to those who’ve passed, there were shouts for an encore. Shyan returned to the stage to join the Republic of Sound to introduce the audience to “Rejection” and “Fly” – both classic and timeless songs imprinted with Shyan’s unique trademark “urban rock” sound.

It was a great night that’s a precursor for what Shyan Selah fans can expect in the upcoming months. Since this last Whisky performance the band has been offered summer gigs at the Roxy, The Troubador and the House of Blues before jetting off to the East Coast for the launch of the Starbucks Tour, which starts in Philadelphia September 6th. Wherever you are, Shyan Selah will be coming to city near you very soon. Until then stay brave!
